Title: Payroll Accountant
Salary: To $100K plus bonus
Hybrid: Work from home 2 days per week, in office 3 days per week
Location: Iselin NJ area

Seeking a Payroll Accountant for a fast-paced, collaborative environment to handle payroll activities for various small businesses and related entities.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Enter pay data, including time and attendance, employee maintenance, and record keeping using payroll applications.
2. Manage daily payroll operations for various client entities.
3. Process payroll, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
4. Understand taxation of employer-provided benefits.
5. Handle garnishment calculations and compliance.
6. Maintain accurate payroll records and reports.
7. Review time and attendance processing and interface with payroll.
8. Perform gross-up calculations and manual checks.
9. Ensure timely payroll updates for new hires, terminations, and pay rate changes.
10. Verify year-end vendor reporting.
11. Process insurance payments and audits.
12. Respond promptly to client requests.
13. Maintain electronic client files.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree is required.
2. Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, CBIZ, Insperity).
3. Knowledge of payroll processing, tax principles, and wage laws.
4. Ability to calculate payroll tax withholding.
5. Proficiency in Word, Outlook, and Excel.
6. Understanding of workers' compensation and disability laws.
7. Ability to meet strict deadlines and maintain confidentiality.
8. Excellent communication skills (written & verbal), excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
