Summary Little Branches Learning Center, located in Woodstock, VT, is a faith-based early education center. We currently serve children ages 6 weeks to 5 years, in addition to children in our after-school program, and summer program, up to second grade. We are looking for a highly motivated part-time After School Teacher Assistant to join our teaching community. As a Teacher Assistant, your daily interactions with the children will help to create a caring and safe environment and assist in activities to engage them in learning. You will use your ability to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. You will demonstrate love, kindness and patience in all interactions with children.
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday 1pm to 5pm
- Willing to discuss full time position for the right candidate
Duties - Variety of walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, etc.
- Assist teachers in implementing a high-quality, faith-informed educational program
- Develop positive relationships with families, children, and staff
- Implement developmentally appropriate activities based on approved curriculum
- Supervise actitives to ensure safety of the children
- Maintain overall organization and cleanliness of the classrooms
- Attend schedule staff meetings and in-service workshops
- Complete at least 15 hours of approved professional development annually
Requirements - Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a high school diploma or GED; at least one of the following
- Career Ladder Level 1 certificate
- CDA certificate and 12 months experience with children under grade 3
- A State Board of Education approved Human Services Program Certificate and at least 12 months experience
- Completion of the Fundamentals for Early Education Professionals' course or Vermont Afterschool Essentials Certificate and 12 months experience
- At least 3 successfully completed college credits in courses of child or human development
- Clear background check and fingerprinting through the Child Development Division
- Complete Vermont Orientation training online prior to being left alone with children
- Complete Vermont Mandated Reporter training for child abuse and neglect
- Obtain certification in pediatric first aid and infant/child CPR within 6 months of date of hire
- Complete Basic Specialized Care and Medication Administration trainings
- Be able to lift 35 pounds or more
- Be able to move equipment and furniture for classroom activities and routine cleaning
